The Year 7 Baseline Assessment Listening Test 1, from Musical Contexts, provides a means of obtaining data regarding Critical Engagement: Listening and Appraising and Music Knowledge at the start of Year 7.
 
The resource package contains a Pupil Answer Booklet (full and short versions), Teacher Mark Scheme (full and short versions), two MP3 audio files (required for the administration of the test) with full audio transcript, an optional marks, levels and progress grade supplement and pupil reflection.
 
The test contains a variety of questions including Pitch, Rhythm and Melody Tests, The Elements of Music, Notation, World Music and Instruments of the Orchestra.
 
The test is marked out of 78 marks and can be completed with a one-hour music lesson.
